What will become of me? – A brief update on my summer plans

As term time drew to a close, I began to worry about what I would be doing with my summer. My desire was to work with a church, be mentored by a minister, and get training as a minister. After asking around a bit within the Free Church, there were three definite possibilities: Dundee, Dunblane, and Dingwall .  However, after identifying the possibilities, everything seemed to stand still. As classes ended and the summer began, I thought nothing would come together. I had a few ideas of other things I could do over the summer, but application deadlines were fast approaching. I sent out a few last prods to the most promising possibilities. In mid-May, I decided that if I didn’t hear anything by the end of the week from the churches, I would stop looking for a summer internship and pursue the other options.

Dingwall
On the Thursday of that week, I started the day asking for prayer about this at the prayer breakfast at church. That night, I received an email from Angus MacRae, the minister at Dingwall Free Church. The church offered me a one-month internship! I will be spending the month of July working with Rev. MacRae. What an answer to prayer! My employer has also allowed me to take the month off! (Another answer to prayer!) God has been faithful and kind! Please pray for this opportunity. Pray that God would bless both the church in Dingwall and the Free Church as a denomination in their various ministries. And pray that I would be useful to God’s work and not seek my own ends.
